BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County celebrated the opening of the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel with a ribbon cutting ceremony marking a major milestone in the transformation of the Broward County Convention Center District and a significant investment in the County's economy.

The Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel is the cornerstone of a historic public-private partnership supporting a $1.3 billion investment to best accommodate global convention center business with a luxury convention center hotel.

"We chose Omni Hotel and Resorts because it is one of the most respected operators of convention hotels in North America," said Mayor Mark Bogen. "They have a proven reputation for excellence in delivering hospitality services and that's why they are the right partner for Broward County."

The 29-story, 801-room headquarters hotel is expected to significantly increase annual room nights, convention bookings, and visitor spending, helping drive hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity for Broward County over the coming years. The hotel enhances the County's competitive position in securing convention meetings, trade shows, and destination events.

The opening ceremony also included remarks from Gayla Guyse, General Manager of the Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel and Kurt Alexander, President of Omni Hotels & Resorts.

The Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel features 82 suites, multiple signature dining venues, a resort-style pool deck, Mokara Spa, state-of-the-art fitness center, and 120,000 square feet of meeting and event space and is connected to the newly expanded Broward County Convention Center-offering an additional 1.2 million square feet of event space.

Its waterfront location offers spectacular views, convenient access to the Convention Center, Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and the region's beaches, retail and cultural attractions.
