BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Fort
Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), in partnership with the
Broward Cultural Division, presents its latest Terminal 2 (T2) Art Gallery
exhibition, titled "Traveler's Checks" by Florida-based Haitian artist
Dominik Ambroise, a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores resilience,
healing, and joy.
"This
exhibition brings together 13 paintings that celebrate the movement,
memory, and cultural richness of my Haitian roots as they intersect with my
life in South Florida," Ambroise said. "Traveler's Checks explores the emotional
and spiritual journey of migration - what we leave behind, what we carry, and
what we become along the way. The
artworks honor the strength, freedom, and resilience found in travel,
transition, and identity, offering a vibrant reflection of the diaspora's
enduring spirit."
The Terminal 2 Art Gallery showcases the work of South Florida professional artists through temporary exhibitions that rotate every eight months.
"Ambroise's exhibition reinforces the Terminal 2 Art Gallery's mission to
champion the work of South Florida's local artists," said Mark Gale, FLL
CEO/Director of Aviation. "The gallery provides airport visitors with a personal
glimpse into the lives and stories of the artists who shape and enrich our
diverse and vibrant community. Each story is unique and compelling!"
After surviving
a life-altering car accident, Ambroise turned to painting as a form of therapy -
a way to transform pain into purpose and emotion into beauty. Through her art,
she discovered self-acceptance and the power of vulnerability. Using palette
knives, found objects, and rich textures, her work reflects strength, movement,
and beauty within imperfection. Through her artwork, Ambroise inspires viewers
to embrace vulnerability, reconnect with joy, and celebrate the unbreakable
light that exists within us all.
The T2 post-security gallery encompasses the north and south passenger hold rooms in Concourse D, which serve seven of the airport's gates. For information about the
gallery, contact ArtFLL@broward.org.
