BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Commissioner
Steve Geller has been selected as a policy leader on the Florida Association of
Counties' (FAC) Finance, Tax & Administration Policy Committee. This
appointment was made by FAC President Michelle Lincoln of Monroe County.
FAC's Policy Committees play a critical role in shaping and
advocating for policies that uphold the principle of home rule for Florida
counties. Recommendations developed by these committees are incorporated into
FAC's Legislative Action Plan, which guides the organization's advocacy
priorities throughout the year.
"I'm proud to serve on the Finance, Tax & Administration
Committee. Addressing issues like taxation, economic development, and fiscal
responsibility is vital to ensuring Broward County, and all Florida
counties, remain strong and sustainable. I look forward to collaborating with
fellow leaders to develop policies that benefit our communities."
The Finance, Tax & Administration Committee focuses on a
broad range of issues including:
- Tax
policies and local revenue streams
- State-shared
revenue programs
- Economic
growth initiatives
- Fiscal
management at the local level
- Governance
and administrative challenges
- Relations
with constitutional officers
- Public
records transparency
- Election
processes
- Ethics
and integrity standards
- The
Florida Retirement System
"Advocacy is fundamental to FAC's mission and essential in
safeguarding local self-governance. Our policy committees are instrumental in
shaping the legislative agenda, and I carefully selected each member for their
expertise and commitment to advancing Florida's counties," said FAC President Michelle
Lincoln.
Commissioner Geller has also been appointed this year to
serve on the FAC Community and Urban Affairs Policy Committee, where he has
previously served as Chair and Co-Chair.
Commissioner Geller brings extensive legislative experience
to the committees, having served as a Florida State Senator and Senate Minority
Leader.
Commissioner Geller will serve a one-year term,
collaborating closely with FAC's executive committee to craft and recommend a
legislative platform. This platform will inform the association's priorities
for the upcoming 2026 Legislative Session.
