BROWARD
COUNTY, FL - The Public Works' Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division will begin a drainage repairs and replacement project in Pompano Beach, specifically at the intersection of Hammondville Road and Andrews Avenue (see map attached). To expedite the work and minimize disruption, the project will be conducted as a continuous operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 10 days. Construction for this gas-tax funded project is scheduled to begin on June 9, 2025, and is expected to be completed by June 19, 2025, barring any unforeseen conditions and/or weather-related delays.
The existing drainage structure has settled significantly over time, resulting in a depression in the travel lane. The structure is more than 14 feet deep and requires immediate replacement to ensure public safety and maintain the integrity of the roadway.
During construction, the following traffic modifications will be implemented:
- Eastbound traffic on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard (MLK), between Powerline Road and NW 16th Avenue will be detoured.
- Westbound traffic on Hammondville Road will continue as usual.
Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division can be reached at 954-357-6040, and Project Manager Stanley Bateman can be reached at 954-647-6490 or sbateman@broward.org.
Broward County appreciates your patience as we complete this necessary drainage work.
