BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The public is encouraged to comment on the triennial Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) goal-setting process for airport and transit projects that are anticipated to receive federal grant funding. The online Broward County Triennial DBE Goal Public Comment Survey opens today, June 5, and will remain open through end of day Friday, July 18, 2025. Business owners, whether currently DBE-certified or not, along with industry and trade organizations, prime contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and other interested persons are invited to participate. The survey follows two public stakeholder meetings hosted by the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD). View meeting recording.
The U.S. Department of Transportation requires all federal grant recipients subject to the DBE Program to submit overall program goals for review every three years. The DBE goal-setting process includes the calculation of the small business participation goal based on the current industry trends and public input. Broward County's respective triennial DBE goals will apply to airport and transit contracts solicited during fiscal years 2026 to 2028, October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2028, for federally funded aviation and transit projects. Visit the OESBD webpage for proposed triennial DBE goals.
"Our goal-setting process involves multiple stakeholder meetings and a public comment period providing the best opportunity for OESBD to evaluate the effectiveness of these programs as we continue our mission to create opportunities for small businesses," said OESBD Director Sandy-Michael E. McDonald. "I encourage business owners to participate by taking the survey and providing feedback, and also by learning more about how to do business with Broward County."
The respective methodologies for these three goals are available for public review for 30 days from the date of this notice at the Broward County Office of Economic and Small Business Development, located at 115 S. Andrews Avenue, Room A-680, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301, Monday - Friday, 8:30AM to 5PM. Broward County will accept comments on the DBE goals for 30 days from the date of this notice. Send all comments to the attention of Donna-Ann Knapp, Small Business Development Manager, at the above address, or by e-mail at dknapp@broward.org.
