BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) unveiled its latest exhibition, "NOTICE," by artist Lori Pratico, in partnership with the Broward Cultural Division. Located in
Terminal 1, Pratico's installation is an immersive art experience that
challenges viewers to reconsider the representation and valuation of female
artists throughout history and today.
"This visual display
serves not only as a tribute but also as a commentary on how female artists
have historically been overlooked and underrepresented in the art world," said
Pratico. "This imagery symbolizes the risk of these artists fading from our
collective memory if their contributions are not recognized, celebrated, and
recorded in history."
Pratico's FLL exhibit features
portraits of female artists hanging from the ceiling, and over 100 of their names cover the walls and floor.
"So many women have helped change the aviation industry for the better, and
the same goes for the art world," said Mark Gale, FLL CEO/Director of Aviation.
"It's important to highlight women artists who have made lasting impacts
and continue celebrating their accomplishments to motivate the next
generation."
The post-security exhibition in Terminal 1, Concourse C
(T1C), will be displayed through July. Approximately 8,500 passengers travel
through this concourse daily. The T1C gallery opened in August 2023 as a temporary space dedicated to immersive art experiences
that are engaging and inviting for airport visitors. "NOTICE" will be the final
of four exhibitions shown in this space due to
the start of construction for FLL's Terminal Connectors
project. For additional information about FLL's art program, email ArtFLL@broward.org.
Pratico is a nationally recognized artist with over
100 murals in 16 states and solo exhibits in Florida and Virginia. Her art has
been featured in magazines like Marie Claire, Juxtapoz,
Professional Artist, and International Artist. Notably, the Salvation Army
selected her artwork to commemorate their 100th anniversary in 2022, according
to her biography.
