BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County has a new Mayor and Vice Mayor. Former Vice Mayor
Beam Furr has been selected by the Commission to serve as Mayor in the year ahead and
Commissioner Mark Bogen was selected to serve as Vice Mayor. Outgoing Mayor Nan H. Rich will return to her
Commission seat representing District 1.
Mayor Furr was first elected to represent District 6 in 2016
and first served as Mayor in 2018. District 6 includes parts of Dania Beach,
Davie, Fort Lauderdale, Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Pembroke Park and West
Park. Prior to his service on the Commission, he served as City of

Vice Mayor Mark Bogen is an attorney who was elected to the
Commission in 2015 representing District 2. He also served as Broward Mayor in 2019 and
Vice Mayor in 2017. District 2 includes the cities of Coconut Creek, Margate, Pompano Beach and Coral Springs. View selection of Broward Vice Mayor
Four incumbent Commissioners were sworn-in once again today
and newly elected Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis was sworn-in to represent
District 7. District 7 includes parts of
Hollywood, Miramar, Pembroke Pines and Tribal Land. Commissioner Davis previously served as Vice
Mayor in the City of Miramar. Commissioner Davis was born in England and raised in Jamaica. Her career spans multiple countries and
roles, including positions at the Ministry of Agriculture in Kingston, Jamaica,
the Capital Taxes office in London, England, and Miami-Dade County Government. District 7 Swearing In and Acceptance Speech

- District 9 Hazelle P. Rogers
Outgoing Mayor Nan Rich delivered the Annual State of the
County Address. She said the State of
the County is "strong." She
noted major accomplishments in affordable housing, including the release of the
10-Year Affordable Housing Master Plan, $20 million earmarked for the
Affordable Housing Trust Fund, and multiple projects benefiting from the more than
$28 million the Commission approved for gap funding. 2024 State of the County Address The Broward County Charter stipulates that every year the
Commission shall elect one Commissioner to the position of Mayor and one
Commissioner to serve as Vice Mayor. The
Mayor serves as the County's official representative and ceremonial dignitary,
providing leadership on issues facing the County.
