BROWARD COUNTY, FL - A new parking rate structure takes effect at the Fort
Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) on Wednesday, November 20,
2024. The new parking fees - FLL's first pricing change for its
on-site garages in nearly a decade - will help offset operational costs
and support future airport improvements.
For travelers opting for long-term parking at FLL, the new
daily maximum rate will be $20 per vehicle (up from $15), and valet parking
will cost $30 per day (up from $25). Airport visitors using short-term parking
(intended for picking up and dropping off passengers) will still pay up to $36
daily. However, it will take less time to reach the maximum short-term (and long-term) rate as the new incremental pricing is based on a $2 charge for every 20-minute
parked interval.
Of note, even with these pricing adjustments, FLL's parking
fees will still be among the lowest (or on par) with the three other
large-hub international airports in Florida: Miami, Orlando, and Tampa. Additionally, the "first 20 minutes free" grace period for FLL's
short and long-term parking still applies.
"The decision to increase FLL's parking rates was not
taken lightly, as fee increases are seldom popular. However, it's no longer
fiscally prudent to hold rates at 2015 levels given the current inflationary
environment and rising operational expenses," said Mark Gale, CEO/Director
of Aviation. "While these price adjustments are necessary, we believe
travelers will still find FLL's new parking rates attractive and among the
lowest of our peer airport competitive set."
FLL is among several major U.S. airports that introduced
new parking fees recently to combat rising expenses and balance operational
revenues.
