Animal Care Mega Adoption Event

- Partnering with Petco Love -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Animal Care is joining forces with non-profit Petco Love and other animal welfare groups across Florida on a shared mission to find homes for 2,000 dogs and cats in shelters. The Petco Love Florida Mega Adoption Event will take place on June 28, 29 and 30 in Petco stores and local animal shelters.

According to recent nationwide data, Florida ranks 46th in the nation for saving the lives of pets in shelters. In 2021, nearly 22,616 dogs and cats were killed in animal shelters across Florida.

Last year's Petco Love Florida Mega Adoption Event connected 1,946 animals with new homes. This year's effort is leveraging a powerful coalition of 46 shelters across 33 Florida counties hoping to place 2,000 pets with loving families in only three days. All pets are spayed, neutered, and vaccinated. All adoption fees are waived, but some exclusions may apply.

Adoptable pets will be at the following locations:

Broward County Animal Care
2400 SW 42 Street, Fort Lauderdale
Friday, June 28 - Sunday, June 30, 11AM to 6PM

Petco Store
1978 S. University Drive, Davie
Saturday, June 29 - Sunday, June 30, Noon to 3PM

The event is funded by a grant from Petco Love to the Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS) and facilitated by JHS's Florida Leaders in Lifesaving program.

"Broward County Animal Care is thrilled to partner with Petco Love on this monumental effort to find homes for 2,000 deserving pets. Together, the Broward community has the power to save lives and give these pets the second chance they deserve," said Doug Brightwell, Broward County Animal Care Director.
