Libraries Wraps Up 50th Anniversary Fun with Parties and Architecture Talk

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Libraries, named 2020 and 2015 "Library of the Year" by the Florida Library Association, is marking its 50th Anniversary with host of notable programs, including a systemwide party and a library architecture talk.

Broward County Library system, which has grown to encompass 37 locations, will observe its 50th Anniversary with a free "birthday" program on April 10. Each library will be serving up birthday treats and inviting the public to their free, unique festivities. Visit the library's special 50th Anniversary webpage for a list of times and locations. 

Another event of special significance to the library's anniversary is "Why Brutalism?" Architecture Talk with Anthony Abbate, from 6:30 to 8PM at Main Library on April 19. This free discussion will focus on the historical significance of Main Library as a landmark building in the style of Brutalist architecture. Mr. Abbate is a professor at the School of Architecture and an award-winning architect practicing in Florida and New York. Preregistration is requested.
