NEA Big Read Comes to Broward County Library in January 2022

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Library (BCL) presents NEA Big Read in January 2022, featuring the graphic novel, The Best We Could Do: An Illustrated Memoir by award-winning author Thi Bui, together with Drawn Together by Minh Le and A Different Pond by Bao Phi.

This year's program series includes a full line-up of events for all ages, including its signature event, Art Lit 2022: "Drawing Together" A Live Celebration of Art & Literature, on January 15, 2022, Noon to 5PM at the Pompano Beach Library and Cultural Center, 50 W Atlantic Boulevard, Pompano Beach, FL 33060, 954-357-7595.

NEA Big Read 2022 examines the experience of writers of Asian ancestry, two of whom will do a live, online conversation as part of the NEA Big Read , cosponsored by the Broward Public Library Foundation and the Ellsworth Public Library in Ellsworth, Maine. Graphic novelist Thi Bui, who came to the United States among the "boat people" fleeing at the close of the Vietnam War, appears on January 29th.  Participate in an online conversation with teen author Alexandra Huynh, National Youth Poet Laureate, on January 22nd.

NEA Big Read participants can receive a free copy of The Best We Could Do: An Illustrated Memoir by Thi Bui; Drawn Together by Minh Le; and A Different Pond by Bao Phi at participating libraries, while supplies last. Books are also available in various formats from Broward County Library.
