Broward County Library Presents Science Fair Fest October 3rd

BROWARD COUNTY, FLBroward County Library will host an exciting 4th annual Science Fair Fest held online from 11:30AM to 5PM on Saturday, October 3rd. Attendees of any presentation will receive a certificate and the chance to win prizes and take part in a grand prize raffle.   

The free event features four dynamic presentations made by conference partners intended to get students in grades 6 through 12 enthused about school projects. Conference partners include the School Board of Broward County, the Museum of Discovery and Science, Barry University and the Space Science Institute.

The event is funded via a prestigious grant from NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The NASA @ My Library grant allows Broward County Library, in partnership with the Broward County School Board, to prepare students ages 18 and younger to use library resources to make science fair projects easier, more successful and greater fun.

The four online presentations of the Science Fair Fest include:

Parent & Student Info and Q&A with the School Board of Broward County 11:30AM to 12:30PM, for grades 6-12

Coral Reef Rangers with the Museum of Discovery and Science - 1 to 2PM, for grades 5-8

Fun with Chemistry with Barry University - 2:30 to 3:30PM, for grades 4–6
-
Be a NASA GLOBE Citizen Scientist with the Space Science Institute - 4 to 5PM,  for all ages

At every session a special phrase will be given. All attendees of any presentation will receive a certificate by emailing the phrase to Valerie Marshall at vmarshall@broward.org. The first 300 attendees to email the presentation’s special phrase will also receive an at-home activity kit that includes a portable microscope and be entered in a raffle.

The goal of NASA@My Library is to create compelling learning experiences for the community and share the story, science and adventure of NASA's scientific explorations of planet Earth, our solar system and the universe beyond.

Broward County Library is one of 75 public libraries chosen to be part of NASA@ My Library to engage public audiences nationwide in informal and lifelong learning with NASA, an independent agency of the federal government responsible for the civilian space program, as well as aeronautics and aerospace research.
