BROWARD COUNTY, FL – The Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD), as part of its triennial Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) goal setting process, will host a virtual public stakeholders meeting on Friday, August 21st  from 10 to 11:30AM to discuss the impact that COVID-19 is having on the car rental and non-car rental concessions program at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), how this will impact the upcoming triennial goals, and to obtain your feedback on the program. This year’s public meeting is being held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged for this free public education event.

The ACDBE goal setting process includes the calculation of the small business participation goal based on the current industry trends and public input. The triennial goal will apply to projects anticipated to be solicited for the period of October 1, 2021 thru September 30, 2023 (FY 2021- 2023).

“This meeting is a critical component to measure the effectiveness of the ACDBE program to create opportunities for local businesses in commercial arenas not conventionally afforded to them in the current business model,” said OESBD Director Sandy-Michael McDonald. “We will share information about participating in the process at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and you will also hear from the CEO of FLL, Mr. Mark Gale on his ideas for including more South Florida Flavor and Small Business Opportunities in our growing airport and how he and his team is addressing the concerns to date, due to COVID-19.”

Industry and trade organizations, prime contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and businesses that are DBE/ACDBE-certi?ed, as well as those that are not ACDBE/DBE-certi?ed, are invited to participate in the meeting. In addition to the public meeting, OESBD is hosting two virtual focus groups, each accommodating 20 or less participants and conducting an online Public Comment Survey from August 1 to August 31st.

OESBD administers the ACDBE program, on Broward County’s behalf, as required by Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 23, which governs the ACDBE Program. Following the public input period, OESBD will announce the established triennial ACDBE (car rental and non-car rental) goals for a 30-day public review and comment period. These activities are held in collaboration with the Broward County Aviation Department.
