BROWARD COUNTY, FL – The County’s Transportation Surtax Appointing Authority has appointed Ronald E. Frazier to Broward’s Independent Transportation Surtax Oversight Board in the category of Architecture.
Frazier is the retired CEO/Owner of Ronald E. Frazier & Associates, P.A., Architects and Urban Planners, a position that he held for more than 40 years. Frazier is currently the Chairman/CEO of BAC Funding Corporation, a Community Development Financial Institution that provides loans, investments and grants for Black businesses, economic development initiatives and non-profit based organizations.
Prior to his retirement, Frazier had more than 40 years of experience in the design of innovative architectural structures for both governmental agencies and private sector companies.
A native of Houston, Frazier received a Bachelor of Architecture from Howard University and a Masters in Urban Design and Planning from the Catholic University of America. He worked as an assistant professor of architecture and planning at both Howard University and the University of Miami.
"The Transportation Surtax will provide community benefits for all residents as well as provide economic opportunities for local small and minority businesses," states Frazier.
Frazier will serve the remainder of the four-year appointment previously filled by Douglas Coolman which ends January 10, 2023.
The Independent Transportation Surtax Oversight Board of volunteer professionals is responsible for reviewing transportation surtax projects for eligibility, monitoring revenues and expenditures, and offering transparency and accountability to the public.
