Animal Care and The Pet Project Introduce Senior Paws

- Free lifetime services available for older pets in need -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL –  In an effort to find forever homes for older dogs, Broward County Animal Care and Adoption and The Pet Project have partnered to introduce a new and innovative program called “Senior Paws.”

Often senior dogs are overlooked by adopters who have concerns about the possible additional cost of caring for an older pet. The Senior Paws program will help offset the cost of adopting a senior by providing free veterinary services, food and supplies for the life of the dog.

Six senior dogs currently available for adoption at Animal Care have been selected to be part of the program. When visiting the Adoption Center, Senior Paws pets will be easy to identify by a special display set up in the Main Lobby. The dogs are also featured on Animal Care’s Senior Paws website and Facebook page.

“Animal Care is very grateful and proud to partner with The Pet Project for this important program. Too often older pets are overlooked in favor of younger dogs. The Pet Project’s generous support of these special pets removes any doubts residents may have about adopting a senior pet,” said Lauralei Combs, Broward County Animal Care and Adoption Director.

“We are very excited to help support this important group of pets,” said Sue Martino, Executive Director, The Pet Project. “Every dog deserves a family, so we hope the support provided by the Senior Paws program will help adopters consider opening their heart and home to a senior pet in need.”
