Free Science Fair Readiness Festival at Northwest Regional Library

BROWARD COUNTY, FL A free, exciting 3rd annual Broward County Library Science Fair Readiness Festival to get students enthused about school projects takes place from 12 to 4PM on Saturday, October 5th at the Northwest Regional Library, 3151 N. University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33065, via a prestigious grant from NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

The NASA @ My Library grant allows Broward County Library, in partnership with the Broward County School Board, to prepare students ages 18 and younger to use library resources to make science fair projects easier, more successful and greater fun.

Through an afternoon of science activities, demonstrations and play for prizes, the Science Fair Readiness Festival inspires students with entertaining aspects of science and NASA-related subjects. The Festival will be offering hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) activity stations for all grade levels. Dramatic presentations, including a drone flight and virtual reality experiences with the library’s Creation Station, will take place.

A large scale Science Fair Scavenger Hunt of five activities earns students a prize of their choice, such as a tri-fold science board or a free book. Students can also experiment in the Technology Petting Zoo, look through solar telescopes, pose for green screen photos on the moon or Mars, fly micro drones inside the library and learn about STEM careers.

The goal of NASA@ My Library is to create compelling learning experiences for the community and share the story, science and adventure of NASA's scientific explorations of planet Earth, our solar system and the universe beyond.

Broward County Library is one of 75 public libraries chosen to be part of NASA@ My Library to engage public audiences nationwide in informal and lifelong learning with NASA, an independent agency of the federal government responsible for the civilian space program, as well as aeronautics and aerospace research.
