"FLLibrary" Brings Free Online Music and Movies to Airport Visitors

BROWARD COUNTY, FL – The Broward County FLLibrary, a satellite library location featuring the latest in streaming media technology, opened June 12, 2019, at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) in Fort Lauderdale.

Launched as a partnership between Broward County's Libraries Division and Aviation Department, the FLLibrary, located between Terminals 3 and 4, is an innovative new space where passengers can relax, recharge their devices and get free downloadable/streaming music and movies “on the fly.”

“The new Broward County FLLibrary will expand our services even more by including our valued Broward County visitors," says Broward County Libraries Division Director Kelvin Watson. “The FLLibrary is the first library/airport collaboration of its kind, providing passengers with instant access to online music and video content."

The name “FLLibrary” is a combination of the airport's signature “FLL” call letters and the word “library.” Sleek and modern, the FLLibrary offers comfortable seating with built-in charging ports. The walls feature QR codes that passengers can scan to get an online Instant eCard and gain immediate access to free online music and movies from the Library’s digital collection, which includes over 15 million songs and 40,000 music videos in hundreds of genres. Visitors can enjoy unlimited streaming of either curated playlists or playlists they create on their own. In addition to streaming, visitors can download and keep six songs per week.

“Through this innovative collaboration, we have pooled our resources to create a cozy place where travelers can relax and explore the free resources our Broward County Library network offers to guests,” said Broward County Aviation Department CEO/Director Mark Gale. “With FLL’s free Wi-Fi, you can surf the internet, check your email and now download free music and movies. It’s all part of our efforts to enhance the guest experience. We plan to expand the FLLibrary to other locations in the future.”

This is the latest partnership for the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and Broward County Library. In 2011, the airport was the first in the world to broadcast a QR code directing travelers to free online library materials.
