BCT Employees Give Back to Community
- The BCT Angels to handout back-to-school supplies this weekend-

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Employees from Broward County Transit (BCT) will hand out backpacks and school supplies to students in need on Sunday, August 5th from 1 to 3PM at Roosevelt Gardens Park, 2841 NW 11th Street, pavilion 3, in Fort Lauderdale.

The employees, known as The BCT Angels, headed by Carla Wells, a maintenance technician and Tinita Brown, a bus operator, started giving back to their community in 2016 by organizing fund raisers and using their own money to buy supplies. Supporting the community through these types of initiatives, The BCT Angels have been able to provide clothing, food and personal care items to the homeless and families in need.

“We saw a need within our community and we knew we had to do something to help. I remember growing up and my mother not always being able to afford school supplies because we needed the money to put food on our table,” says Wells. “Tinita and I don’t want kids to have to go without like we did when we were growing up. With the help of other volunteers from BCT, we will continue to do all that we can to help people. “

Broward County Transportation Director Chris Walton applauds the compassion shown by Wells, Brown and the other volunteers, affectionately known as the BCT Angels. “I am so proud of them and the work they do in our community to help others,” says Walton.
