BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Library is commemorating Black History Month during February with events and activities that recognize the achievements and contributions of Black Americans to the creation and growth of the United States.
This year's Black History Month events at Broward County Library invite participants to listen, learn and share their thoughts about African American culture and experiences. Events include storytimes, lectures, films, book discussions and performances. All events are free and open to the public.

In addition to the schedule of Black History Month programs, Broward County Library is highlighting its online collections and resources such as the Special Collections of Broward County's African American Research Library and Cultural Center, which contains over one million items including rare books, artwork, artifacts, reference materials, photographs, oral histories and ephemera.
Featured collections include the Black Broward Oral History Project, the Love-Thornell Collection of Black American Photographs and Virtual AARLCC, which offers views of 3D models of African masks, carvings, figurines and other unique artifacts.
"Black History Month is a time to reflect on the rich contributions of African Americans to our culture," says Broward County Library Director Allison Grubbs. "I encourage everyone to discover our collections and attend programs to deepen their knowledge of Black history and its enduring impact."
