BROWARD COUNTY, FL - The Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD) will begin a major gas tax-funded bridge rehabilitation project in Cooper City next month (see attached map). The project, located on Stirling Road, just west of South Flamingo Road, will primarily address structural issues identified in the latest Florida Department of Transportation Bridge Inspection Report. Work is scheduled to start February 3, 2025, and is expected to conclude by August 2025, barring any unforeseen conditions and/or weather delays.
HBMD has developed an innovative design and construction
method that minimizes impacts on traffic, nearby businesses, and residents
during construction. This new approach, one of the first in Florida, allows
most of the work to be conducted on the bridge's underside using floating
platforms in the canal. This contrasts with traditional methods, which would
have required extensive work on the bridge's surface, causing significant
traffic disruptions. Watch Video.
During the majority of the construction, lane closures will
not be necessary, except for a two-week period when deck waterproofing and
resurfacing are performed. Driveways and sidewalks will remain accessible
throughout the project. Variable
message signs will also be posted to inform affected motorists and pedestrians.

Broward County appreciates your patience as we complete this necessary bridge repair project.
