Broward County Transit Announces Plans for Modernized Copans Facility

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Transit (BCT) is excited to announce plans for the redevelopment of its Copans Transit Facility. This state-of-the-art facility, located at 3201 W. Copans Road, will serve as a cornerstone of BCT's commitment to providing exceptional public transportation services to the community.

Once completed, the 27-acre facility will feature a 200,000-square-foot maintenance facility equipped to accommodate electric buses, complete with rooftop solar panels for sustainable energy. Additionally, a 16,900-square-foot training center will provide advanced training opportunities for BCT's workforce, including cutting-edge driving simulators and in-person learning spaces.

"This project is more than just a facility upgrade; it's a testament to our dedication to innovation and environmental responsibility," said Coree Cuff Lonergan, CEO/General Manager of BCT. "By investing in this modern infrastructure, we're not only improving our operations but also enhancing the overall quality of life for Broward County residents."

The facility's design incorporates sustainable features such as on-site lakes and advanced drainage systems to mitigate flood risks. These measures align with BCT's commitment to creating a more resilient and environmentally friendly transportation system.

To foster community engagement, BCT CEO/General Manager Coree Cuff Lonergan participated in a Meet and Greet with the Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) where more than 300 attendees gathered at the Government Center East Commission Chambers. The event provided an opportunity for community members to learn about the project and share their insights.

As Broward County continues to grow, BCT remains dedicated to providing reliable, efficient, and sustainable transportation options for all.
