BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Transit (BCT) rolled into the 2024 City of Miramar's Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade showcasing a specially designed MLK Jr. bus adorned with images of Dr. King and Rosa Parks. This bus serves as a rolling tribute to the civil rights movement, emphasizing the ongoing fight for justice and equality.

The eye-catching bus, unveiled in the parade, features captivating artwork that blends Dr. King's iconic silhouette with the enduring image of Rosa Parks refusing to relinquish her seat. This visual tapestry serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by these giants of the civil rights movement, while simultaneously looking forward to a future where equal opportunities roll freely for all.

"We are honored to be a part of this important celebration and to use our bus as a platform to share the stories and contributions of Black heroes like Rosa Parks and Dr. King," said Coree Cuff Lonergan, CEO/General Manager, Broward County Transportation. "This bus is a symbol of our commitment to providing equitable transportation for all residents and ensuring everyone has access to the opportunities our community offers."

BCT's participation in the parade extended beyond the MLK Jr. bus with approximately 20 BCT employees walking in the parade and handing out giveaways to the attendees. Our mission in transportation is not just about moving people from point A to point B. It is about moving them towards a more just and equitable future. Every route we plan, vehicle we maintain and passenger we serve we do so with inclusivity and dignity. We connect communities, bridge divides and give people the freedom to reach their destinations and their full potential.

Beyond the parade, the MLK Jr. bus will continue to roll throughout February, serving as a visible reminder of Black History Month and BCT's commitment to diversity and inclusion. Riders can expect to see the bus on various routes throughout Broward County, spreading Dr. King's message of hope and equality.
