BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward
County Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division (HBMD) will be performing major
bridge rehabilitation in Wilton Manors. The bridge rehab is focused on addressing structural issues identified in a recent FDOT
bridge inspection report. The work, funded by the gas tax, will begin on September 5, 2023. It is expected to be completed by May 2024, barring any unforeseen conditions and/or
weather delays.
HBMD has developed an innovative
design and construction method that minimizes impacts to traffic and nearby
businesses and residents during construction. This new design, one of the first
in Florida, allows for most of the work to be performed on the bridge's underside
by using floating platforms in the canal, as opposed to a conventional design
which would have required all work to be performed at the top of the bridge,
resulting in significant traffic impacts. Watch Video
The majority of the construction
will not necessitate any lane closures except for four weeks when bridge deck waterproofing and resurfacing is performed. In preparation for this work, a
single lane closure will also take place for an additional two weeks.
Driveways and sidewalks will remain accessible.

necessary bridge rehabilitation.
