BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Celebrate Broward County Libraries' Summer Learning Program and the Juneteenth holiday at  Northwest Branch Library's  22nd Annual Blues and Sweet Potato Pie Juneteenth Festival. This fun, free, all-ages event is scheduled for Saturday, June 17th from 12 noon to 4:30PM at Apollo Park, located at 1580 NW 3rd Ave., Pompano Beach, FL 33060, adjacent to the Northwest Branch Library.

There's fun for all ages at the Blues and Sweet Potato Pie Juneteenth Festival, including children's activities, cultural entertainment, live music, storytelling, face painting, arts & crafts, poetry, Civil War historical re-enactors, book giveaways, food trucks and the legendary Sweet Potato Pie Contest. 

Children, teens and adults can also register for the 2023 Summer Learning Program to win prizes for reading, attending library events and participating in learning activities.

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration honoring the official end of slavery in the United States and is also known as Freedom or Emancipation Day. This event marks the 22nd year of this annual Broward County Library signature event celebrating the emancipation of enslaved people in America. 

The Blues and Sweet Potato Pie Juneteenth Festival is presented by the Friends of Northwest Branch Library with sponsorship from the City of Pompano Beach. Vendors or non-profit groups who would like to participate can call or stop by the library for applications.
