BROWARD COUNTY, FL - ArtLit 2022 is almost here! Broward County Library and the City of Pompano Beach present ArtLit 2022: Drawing Together, live and in-person on Saturday, March 19 from noon to 5PM at the Pompano Beach Library and Cultural Center, 50 W Atlantic Boulevard, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. The event was postponed from its original date of January 15, 2022.

This will be the fifth year for this free, popular celebration of art and literature for all ages. The program features art, crafts, chalk artistry/mural creation by  professional artists and the public, storytime tent, stencil painting, poetry, painting classes for all ages, musical performances, computer drawing activities,  giveaways and more for the whole family. Also, enjoy fun and games with the Florida Panthers' Outreach Team.

The afternoon of top-flight entertainment includes Simply Puppets with David Goboff; musical performer The Silver Nightingale; saxophonist and recording artist Randy Corinthian; Coral Springs Chinese Cultural Association Lion Dance Team, Bella the Clown and Company; Exit 36 Slam Poetry Team; School of Rock and more.

  • 12PM - Opening remarks with Broward County Vice Mayor Lamar Fisher and Broward County Library Director Allison Grubbs
  • 12:15PM - Live musical performance by School of Rock
  • 12:35PM - Nova Southeastern University public speaking presentation with Octavia Yearwood
  • 1:15PM - Lion Dance performance by Coral Springs Chinese Cultural Association Lion Dance Team
  • 1:30PM - Live saxophone performance by Randy Corinthian
  • 2PM - Live musical performance by School of Rock
  • 2:35PM - Live musical performance by the Silver Nightengale, flautist Laura Sue
  • 2:50PM - Exit 36 Slam Poetry Team
  • 3PM - Music Meets Art - live drawing and classical music

Inside the Pompano Beach Cultural Center, ArtLit 2022 attendees can check out two exciting exhibits. African American Women Changemakers features over 30 photos and bios of African American women educators, activists, artists and more from the Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division. Linking Strands merges visual and textile art into works celebrating the link between the domestic and creative, elevating textile art into an esteemed form of expression without detaching it from the imagery of the hands of woman. Both exhibits are free, open to the public and on display at the Center until March 30, 2022. 

There will be lots of photo ops, including a 3D photo frame and the TapSnap photo booth, where pictures are taken free of charge.

Free parking available at First Baptist Church, 138 NE 1st St, Pompano Beach and City Parking Lot (at the corner of SW 1st Court and SW 1st Street).
