BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County
Library has announced a new date and time for a book discussion
of Barack Obama's The Audacity of Hope, led by Broward County Sheriff
Gregory Tony. The event, originally scheduled for February 2nd, will now take place from 5 to 6PM on March 22nd, at the West
Regional Library, 8601 W Broward Blvd, Plantation, FL 33324, 954-765-1560.
Tony is
Broward County's 17th sheriff and the first African American to serve in that capacity.
His book selection is The
Audacity of Hope, which explores
former President Obama's vision of pathways to political progress, underscored
with personal stories about family, friends and colleagues. The event also includes a raffle held by the library. Preregistration is required.
In conjunction with Tony's
visit, Main Library will host a collaborative exhibition curated by retired
Deputy Sheriff Joe Williams, Historian for the Broward County Sheriff's Office
(BSO). Entitled The Broward Sheriff's Office: A Century of Progress in
Public Safety, it displays a collection of BSO memorabilia and
rare, never-before-seen photos in a free exhibit running from February 1st to April
30th at Main
