Library Wins AVA Digital Gold, Platinum Awards for COVID-19 Response

- Winning projects include online magazine and video storytime series -

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Library won three 2021 AVA Digital Awards for projects launched in response to COVID-19, earning a Platinum and two Gold awards in this prestigious national competition. This year's winning entries were:

  • E-Magazine Marketing Campaign (Gold)
COVID-19 prompted the removal of physical magazines in the browsing collection. These displays were created to attractively fill that space while also marketing the library’s online E-magazine collection.
  • Sunsational Storytime (Gold)
A weekly series of engaging storytime videos were created when in-person programming was not possible due to COVID-19. The videos also market the library’s collection of online eBooks.
  • Stay Connected Magazine (Platinum)
Broward County Library published an online magazine on April 2, 2020, which was still in the early stages of the pandemic. This online magazine provided links to a variety of resources that would be helpful for families and individuals who were in need of entertainment and educational resources.

"Broward County Library is honored to be recognized for our response to the COVID-19 crisis," says Broward County Library Interim Director Allison Grubbs. "I am proud of the efforts of our staff and the positive impact Broward County Library has had on our community and on the lives of our customers during this unprecedented time."

The AVA Digital Awards honor excellence in digital creativity, branding and marketing strategy. Entries from across the nation are judged by the Association of Marketing & Communication Professionals (AMCP). AMCP is the marketing industry’s preeminent third-party evaluator of creative work. Platinum is the competition's highest recognition level, followed by gold and honorable mentions.
