Tropical Storm Eta No Longer a Threat to Broward County
  
- County Government business operations resume at 5PM today -
  

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Tropical Storm Eta is no longer a threat to Broward County. The County is still under a Flash Flood Watch and Coastal Flood Advisory until further notice, and residents are urged to continue to exercise caution as many roadways are flooded.

Broward County will resume all County Government business operations effective 5PM today, November 9. The Emergency Operations Center will remain at a Level 2 activation, in response to Tropical Storm Eta and COVID-19. The Emergency Hotline will close at 10PM Monday, and reopen for business as usual at 8:30AM on Tuesday (8AM for the Homeless Helpline).

Residents are reminded of the following Broward County services:

  • The COVID-19 test collection sites are closed through Monday, November 9. Reopenings begin on Tuesday, November 10, and will be posted as known on Broward.org/coronavirus. Some County park sites will not reopen on Tuesday due to flooding on surrounding roadways.

  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport is operating normally, but passengers are urged to check with their airline as there have been some flight delays and cancellations.

  • Petroleum terminal operators at Broward County’s Port Everglades have been approved to begin fuel deliveries. Ship traffic is still prohibited. For more information, visit porteverglades.net.

  • Broward County Transit fixed routes and Paratransit services resumed at noon Monday, and Express Bus Service will resume Tuesday morning. For more information, visit Broward.org/BCT. Several municipalities have suspended Community Shuttle service.

  • Broward County Highway & Bridges Maintenance Division is actively working flooded areas and checking bridges and other county infrastructure. Street sweepers have been deployed.

  • Garbage and recycling collection services will resume as normally scheduled effective Tuesday, November 10 for Broward County serving the neighborhoods of Broadview Park, Boulevard Gardens, Franklin Park, Roosevelt Gardens and Washington Park. For neighborhoods affected by suspended services, solid waste collections will resume on the next regularly scheduled pick-up day. Visit broward.org/waste for more information.
