ArtLit 2020: Remembering the Past, Envisioning the Future

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Mark your calendars in vivid color for Saturday, January 11, 2020, from 10AM to 5PM as Broward County Library and the City of Pompano Beach present   ArtLit 2020: Remembering the Past, Envisioning the Future.

This free, all-ages celebration of art and literature features live chalk art, canvas art, music, virtual reality demonstrations, interactive experiences, food trucks, and more at the  Pompano Beach Library & Cultural Center, 50 W Atlantic Boulevard, Pompano Beach, FL 33060, 954-357-7595. Stimulating art and activities happen in every direction simultaneously! Inside the library, head to the “Ancient Technology” Petting Zoo, virtual reality and  MERGE cube demonstrations, story time, face painting,  National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read 2020: Dramatic Readings, and the Community Art Program. Stroll surrounding plaza sidewalks to take part in live chalk art/mural creation, photo op – 3D art, live canvas art, and to “Make Your Mark” on the public chalk wall.

Next door to the library in the City of Pompano Beach Cultural Center, become a virtual reality artist in the digital lab or create in the Interactive Art Zone, which has even more activities with Pompano Rocks and the Pompano Beach Mosaic Team. Film buffs can watch a time travel movie classic and its sequel.

While outside sampling the food trucks, listen to music and watch top-notch artists in the Live Muralist lineup: CHNK, Ortie, of Ortie x Galera CollectiveBULK of Mark Bulks of Bulk Styles and SURGE. The Show Mobile lineup on the plaza lawn features  DJ Mike LockeMusic is Your AliSchool of RockArt Prevails Project, Bobby Weidmen and Friends,  South Florida JubileeXuberance, and Blues legend Joey Gilmore.

“Every year ArtLit is more dynamic and better than ever," says Broward County Library Director Kelvin Watson. “We are looking forward to wowing the community with our event partner, the City of Pompano Beach, and hosting an exciting celebration filled with art, literature and music.”

Carpooling and ride sharing are highly encouraged. If you use Uber or Lyft, Spanx the Hog BBQ restaurant, located at 147 S Cypress Road, Pompano Beach, has volunteered to be a drop-off/pick-up point.
