Broward County Libraries Free Teen Empowerment Summit
  
A day for students to "Explore Your PATH"
  

BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Libraries 6th Annual Teen Empowerment Summit, for students in grades 6 to 12, will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019, from 8AM to 5PM at Broward College - A. Hugh Adams Central Campus. The Teen Empowerment Summit is designed to encourage better academic performance, enhance life skills and promote high school graduation.

The theme for 2019 is “Explore Your PATH,” with “PATH” as an acronym for Passion, Action Transformation, and Harmony. Activities include breakout sessions, college tours, interactive games, guest speakers and more. Teens will receive refreshments, books, incentives, t-shirts, and opportunities to win great prizes.

The PATH breakout sessions include hands-on exposure to the visual and performing arts, computer technology, medical technology, music technology and a visit to the Institute of Public Safety (IPS), located on campus. 

Special guests include Broward County Library Director Kelvin Watson, Yamilca Gomez of Florida Virtual Schools, Darius V. Daughtry, poet, playwright, director and author of And the Walls Came Tumbling, and Chanice Lee, author of Young Revolutionary: A Teen’s Guide to Activism. 

The 2019 Summit will start at select Broward County Libraries and transition to Broward College Central campus via Broward County Public School Transportation Services. Teens must pre-register in person at the information desk of any Broward County Library. Parental/guardian authorization is required for all teens under 18.
