BROWARD COUNTY, FL– Broward County Transit (BCT) is putting a battery-powered electric bus on the road starting June 12, 2019. The bus has been added to BCT’s fixed-route schedule and will service 10 different routes over the next month.Customers get to ride free of charge. Buses will be prominently marked "100% Battery Powered."

Over the next several months, BCT will test numerous battery-powered electric buses, made by different manufacturers to obtain the best and latest technology as it prepares to add electric buses to its fleet.

“We hope that our customers will enjoy the smooth, quiet ride and USB charging ports as BCT tests the buses reliability and their ability to withstand South Florida’s weather conditions. This environmentally-friendly and economical technology is the future of public transportation and we want to make sure we get the very best the industry has to offer,” said Broward County Transportation Director Chris Walton.
