BROWARD COUNTY, FL – Broward County Transit (BCT) veteran Bus Operator Rendol Whidden III will represent Broward County at the 2019 Florida Triple Crown Bus Roadeo. The state competition will be held in Jacksonville, Florida, April 5th and 6th.

Whidden defeated 12 other contestants at BCT’s 38th Annual Bus Safety Roadeo on March 3, 2019, to retain his 2018 first place title. BCT bus operator John Hendricks Jr. placed 2nd, Heidi Gadson came in 3rd and Marjorie Gill was named Rookie of the Year. A trophy was also given for Garage of the Year, which went to the Copans facility.

“Congratulations to Rendol and to all of the contestants. The Bus Safety Roadeo is an opportunity for our bus operators to test their driving skills in a friendly competition. I am proud of all BCT’s bus operators and I thank them for the job they do each day to provide quality service and more importantly keep our passengers safe. We will be rooting for Rendol and wish him the best of luck at the state competition,” said Transportation Director Chris Walton.

Rendoll is a 10-time State Roadeo Champion. He was also the 2011-2012 Florida Public Transportation Association Operator of the Year. He has been a bus operator with BCT for 27 years.
