BROWARD COUNTY, FL - Broward County Transit (BCT) recognized Aaron Lewis as its 2015 Transit Hero, for his heroic role in keeping customers and the public safe at a BCT facility.

Aaron Lewis, a G4S Security Guard who watches over BCT customers every day at the Northeast Transit Center in Pompano Beach, played a heroic role when a BSO Deputy was threaten with a knife. Lewis, an Iraq war veteran, acted quickly pushing the knife away from the deputy and himself, possibly saving his life and deescalating the situation.

BCT's annual Transit Hero award recognizes someone who goes above and beyond in their duties and performs as a hero on behalf of BCT employees, customers and/or other members of the public. Lewis was nominated by staff after they heard about the incident.

After carefully reviewing four excellent nominees, Lewis was selected for his honorable actions and presented with an award at a ceremony last month.
